Players leaving

As advised last week, unfortunately 2012 will see Macclesfield CC 1XI take the field without Ben Morrison (London) and Tom Barron (Derby). In addition, we will no longer be seeing Martyn Bale on the Cricket field in 2012 – Martyn has been a true Club stalwart on and off the field since the merger of Parkside CC and Macclesfield CC in 2005 and deserves all our thanks. All 3 players will be greatly missed for their huge contributions on and off the field over the past few years and for being great Clubmen. We wish them all the best, and hope to see them playing cricket again soon at Victoria Road in coming seasons, and in the case of Martyn to watching some cricket there over the coming seasons!

New Players for 2012

As mentioned last week, discussions are just about complete to bring a quality Australian player to the Club for 2012. Please join me in welcoming JAMES CROSTHWAITE to Macclesfield Cricket Club. James is a quality player who has represented the ACT Comets, had a NSW State contract, played and coached in Scotland and USA, and most recently has been opening the batting for Camberwell Magpies 1XI in Melbourne Grade cricket and on the supplementary list (in case of injuries etc) for the Melbourne Renegades for the Australian Twenty/20 Big Bash League in 2011/12. It’s exciting times for the Club to be getting such a good player again at Victoria Road and he will follow in the steps of some of the other excellent Aussies who have graced our ground in recent years such as Evan Gulbis, Mick Allen, Ian Wrigglesworth and Darren Berry to name but a few.

We are also delighted to welcome Adnan Khan to the Club. Adnan is working at Macclesfield Hospital and has been a regular at winter nets so far. His off spin bowling has caused many problems for batsmen as unlike our other spinners, Adnan turns it! (take note Porter and Whitters!! Ha ha). Please make Adnan welcome and introduce yourselves over the coming weeks.

Karl Burgess – I am delighted to say “Burge” will be playing at Victoria Road in 2012. A big signing (in so many ways) for the Club – but most of all for his enthusiasm and love of cricket. You are most welcome at Macc CC mate!

Chris King – Chris is joining the Club to enjoy some sociable cricket on a Sunday afternoon. Please make Chris welcome and introduce yourselves to him over the coming weeks.
